'23rd Icheon City Pear Evaluation Contest' - Choi Dong-ok from Seolseong-myeon Awarded Grand Prize

[Suwon Ilbo=Um In-yong Reporter] Icheon City held the '23rd Icheon City Pear Evaluation Contest' on the 20th at the Agricultural Technology Center's Research and Development Division, targeting pear-growing farmers in the city, and selected a total of 3 farms.

The evaluation was conducted by 10 professional judges from various fields, including experts from the Gyeonggi Province Agricultural Technology Institute, wholesale market auctioneers, and representatives of consumer organizations, who selected 21 submitted entries based on sugar content, weight, firmness, shape, uniformity, and color.

As a result of the evaluation, Choi Dong-ok (Seolseong-myeon) received the grand prize.

Han Kwan-soo (Janghowon-eup) was selected for the gold prize, and Jeon Yun-hee (Janghowon-eup) for the silver prize. Awards for the selected farms will be presented at the '2025 Icheon City Farmers' Day' event on November 7th.

The city holds the fruit evaluation contest annually to standardize cultivation techniques through the sharing of various knowledge, including know-how for producing the highest quality fruits. The submitted entries from this pear evaluation contest will be displayed at Icheon Agricultural Theme Park, where the 24th Icheon Rice Culture Festival is being held, until the 26th, and in addition to the submitted entries, the display of apple and pear varieties will provide attractions for visitors.
