Suwon Achieves 93.9% Collection Rate for September Property Tax by Payment Deadline! Up 2.4%P from Previous Year

[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Jung Jun-sung] Suwon Metropolitan City's September property tax collection rate by payment deadline reached 93.9%, up 2.4%P from the previous year's 91.5%. The collection amount was 186.5 billion won, an increase of 13.3 billion won from the previous year's 173.2 billion won.

Suwon City announced on the 29th that the collection rate for regular local taxes by payment deadline has improved since introducing the 'mobile electronic notice system'.

The 2025 regular residential tax (individual) collection rate by payment deadline increased 6.5%P from the previous year, and collection rates for vehicle tax (1st installment, up 6.3%P), registration and license tax (up 3.1%P), and property tax (1st installment, up 2.4%P) also increased.

The September property tax mobile electronic notices were sent in the first round on September 24-26 to 164,688 cases, and in the second round on October 14 to 13,865 cases. For property tax notices returned other than through mobile electronic delivery, city officials encouraged taxpayers to pay via telephone calls and resent the notices.

A city official said, "We will analyze the reasons for non-payment of property taxes by delinquent taxpayers and encourage payment by sending dunning notices," and added, "We will continue to encourage payment and conduct collection activities on tax arrears to secure tax revenue and promote tax consciousness."

The mobile electronic notice service, introduced by the city in November of last year, uses certified electronic document relay services such as Kakao and KT to send notices and guidance documents to the smartphone of the subject in their own name. Electronic notices are sent based on resident registration number linkage information regardless of whether electronic notice has been requested. Mobile electronic notices also have the effect of preventing tax delinquency and preventing complaints resulting from late payment surcharges.

The city built an integrated system in August to enable individual departments to easily utilize the mobile electronic notice service. With the establishment of the mobile electronic notice integrated system, the scope of electronic notices expanded from the existing 6 types to 18 types, including improper parking and private vehicle violation notices, resident registration new issuance target notifications, and military noise compensation decision notices.
