Anyang Mayor Choi Dae-ho Launches First Anyang Studies Lecture of 2025 at Sungkyul University

[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Eom In-yong] Anyang City held the first Anyang Studies lecture of 2025 on the afternoon of the 29th at Sungkyul University's Yeongam Hall, with Mayor Choi Dae-ho addressing the theme 'Anyang: City of Youth Hope.'

Anyang Studies is a liberal arts course on regional studies that broadly covers Anyang's history, culture, industry, and youth policies. It was launched in 2019 after 'Anyang Studies Overview: Stories of Anyang from Anyang People to University Students' won the Anyang City Policy Contest.

During the Sungkyul University lecture, Mayor Choi stated, "Our goal for Anyang is to create a city where young people want to stay and a city where young people can dream," and added, "Young people's passion is the competitiveness of a city, and Anyang will provide the stage to realize that passion."

He also conveyed three key messages: 'Bu Yao Qi (不要棄, do not give up), Bu Yao Pa (不要怕, do not be afraid), and Bu Yao Hui (不要悔, do not regret),' emphasizing, "Limits are set only by ourselves, and the bigger we think, the more we can achieve," thereby stressing the importance of challenge to young people.

In addition, he introduced actual success stories including companies listed on KOSDAQ through the Anyang Youth Startup Fund and young entrepreneurs who grew with support from the Anyang Industry Promotion Foundation, and explained youth policies and job creation, housing, and cultural support projects being pursued by the city.

Mayor Choi concluded by saying, "Anyang, where youth and the city grow together—that is precisely the vision of 'Anyang: City of Youth Hope,'" and pledged, "Starting with this Sungkyul University lecture, we will further strengthen cooperation with universities within the city."

Meanwhile, the city will hold additional Anyang Studies lectures at Anyang University (November 6), Yonsei University (November 11), and Daelim University (November 25).
