Suwon Special City Obtains Re-certification as 'Family-Friendly Certified Organization' Led by Ministry of Gender Equality and Family

[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Jung Jun-seong] Suwon Special City has obtained re-certification as a family-friendly certified organization in the family-friendly certification review overseen by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family.

'Family-friendly certification' is a certification system granted to organizations (companies, public institutions) that exemplarily operate family-friendly systems such as support for childbirth and childcare, improvement of work environments, and creation of family-friendly workplace culture to enable work-life balance.

Target organizations are selected through document review, employee satisfaction surveys, on-site inspections, and final deliberations. The city will maintain its family-friendly certified organization status through 2028 with this re-certification.

Since its initial certification in 2011, the city has undergone an extension in 2014, re-certifications in 2016, 2019, and 2022, and has now obtained certification again this year.

The city designates every Wednesday as 'Family Love Day' and recommends on-time departure. It also operates various programs including support for long-service leave, supplies for pregnant employees, and family love healing camps for city officials and their families.

Additionally, the city operates family-friendly projects including family care leave, provision of vacation facilities and subsidies, operation of workplace childcare centers, support for ecological and cultural experiences, vaccination support, oriental medicine clinics, and mental health counseling services.

A city official stated, "We will continue to support employees so they can work comfortably by maintaining a family-friendly work environment and flexible organizational culture."
