Anyang Mayor Choi Dae-ho: "The Next Sentence of the City is Written Together with Citizens"...Essay Published
[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Yu Je-sung] Anyang Mayor Choi Dae-ho will hold a publication commemorative event for his essay "The Next Sentence of the City," which contains his philosophy on urban management and administrative experience, on the 20th (Saturday) at 2 p.m. at Anyang Arts Center Convention Hall.
The event will be held from 3 p.m. onwards and is organized as an occasion to explore the future of the city together with citizens and local community officials.
This book carries the subtitle "The Next Phase of Anyang, a Prepared City, and Recommendations for Urban Completion," and expounds on the accumulated urban policy experience during the previous civilian administration and the administrative concerns felt on the ground in a straightforward narrative.
The cover and interior design adopted symbolic elements of city lines, connection, and expandability to visually express the book's theme of "the next sentence," enhancing completeness.
The book comprehensively addresses major agendas that Anyang has faced, including conditions for urban growth, participatory democracy, reorganization of care, education, and welfare systems, climate crisis response strategies, data-driven administration, and new possibilities for local culture and sports.
In particular, rather than listing projects or reporting achievements, the book is characterized by centering on a perspective that views the city as a "community of life," presenting core directions for the city's future development.
Meanwhile, Professor Lim Hyuk-baek, Professor Emeritus at Korea University's Department of Political Science and Diplomacy, who served as Vice Chair of the Democratic Party's Candidate Management Committee for the 22nd General Election and as Presidential Advisory Policy Planning Committee member under the Kim Dae-jung and Roh Moo-hyun administrations; Professor Kang Nam-hun, Professor Emeritus at Hanshin University, who has researched Korean-style basic income; Kim Jin-hyang, former President of the Kaesong Industrial District Support Foundation; actor Lee Won-jong; composer Kim Hyung-seok; and Lee Young-min, director of Bucheon FC1995, wrote endorsements.
Through this publication, Mayor Choi Dae-ho stated, "The future of the city is not created by administration, but a shared sentence written together with citizens," and added, "I hope this writing will serve to reflect on the path Anyang has taken and propose directions so that the next generation can live in a city that is safer and more prosperous."
