Gyeonggi Province Receives Minister's Commendation as 'Exemplary Local Government in Self-Sufficiency Sector for 2025' from Ministry of Health and Welfare

[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Kim Gap-dong] Gyeonggi Province announced on the 26th that it has been selected as an exemplary local government in the 'Overall Performance Evaluation of Self-Sufficiency Projects in the Self-Sufficiency Sector for 2025' overseen by the Ministry of Health and Welfare. This is the second commendation following a Presidential Commendation in 2022.

The self-sufficiency project refers to a welfare program that systematically supports low-income individuals with work capacity by providing employment opportunities and establishing a foundation for self-reliance. Currently, there are 7,166 self-sufficiency work program participants in Gyeonggi Province, and the province is making diverse efforts to help them achieve practical self-reliance.

In this evaluation, key indicators across four areas were assessed for all cities and provinces nationwide: △self-sufficiency work (40 points) △asset-building support project operations (25 points) △self-sufficiency fund and enterprise activation (25 points) △self-sufficiency project operations (10 points).

The province was recognized nationwide for its high-level self-sufficiency support capabilities by achieving balanced results across all evaluation indicators.

Specifically, the following received positive evaluations: △strengthening customized case management and follow-up care on a 1:1 basis △customized education and training programs for self-sufficiency participants and workers (22,000 people annually) △support for scale expansion and management stabilization of self-sufficiency enterprises through operation of the nation's only 'self-sufficiency enterprise complex'.

In the self-sufficiency fund activation sector, the following projects received positive evaluation: the 'Gyeonggi Province-style Reusable Container Cleaning Project' that creates eco-friendly jobs and expands business scope, the 'Living Security Care Kkalkkeumi' that improves housing environments for vulnerable groups, and the 'Expert Personnel Cost Support' that increases expertise of regional self-sufficiency enterprises and creates jobs.
