Hwaseong Special City Takes Steps to Improve Bidding Conditions for Dongtan Urban Railway
[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Park Chan-hyuk] Hwaseong Special City held a business briefing for the construction industry and gathered opinions on bidding conditions and future promotion directions, following a citizens' forum to promote the rapid and stable relaunch of the Dongtan urban railway construction project.
On the 6th, the city held a 'Dongtan Urban Railway Construction Project (Phase 1) Construction Industry Business Briefing' at the Dongtan Branch Conference Room, with approximately 30 people from 15 companies, including major construction firms such as DL E&C, Taeyoung Construction, Ssangyong Engineering and Construction, Doosan Engineering and Construction, and Hansin Engineering and Construction.
At the briefing, which reflected major opinions raised at the earlier emergency countermeasures meeting and citizens' forum, discussions focused on key issues including project overview, construction costs, construction period, and bidding conditions. During the subsequent question-and-answer session, practical questions about improving project viability, such as relaxing bidding conditions, and answers regarding project procurement conditions and review directions were exchanged.
The city plans to comprehensively review the practical opinions of the construction industry gathered at this briefing, more rationally adjust project conditions, and create a stable and competitive bidding environment to improve the effectiveness of project promotion.
The city also comprehensively inspected structural factors that restrict bidding participation and initiated substantive improvements in construction period reallocation and overall bidding conditions. Through these efforts, the city plans to reorganize project conditions to increase the possibility of actual bidding participation and proceed with new bidding next month.
Mayor Jeong Myeong-geun said, "The Dongtan tram is a key project that completes Hwaseong City's future transportation system, so it is most important to prepare realistic alternatives that sufficiently reflect the opinions of citizens and the construction industry," and added, "We will actively review the opinions presented at this briefing and concentrate all administrative resources so the Dongtan tram can get back on track as quickly as possible."
