Uiwang City Achieves Top-Tier Regional Safety Index Rating in Capital Region for 2025

[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Yu Je-sung] Uiwang City announced on the 13th that it has received an excellent rating for three consecutive years from 2023 to 2025 in the Ministry of Interior and Safety's 'Regional Safety Index' evaluation, gaining recognition for its systematic safety management capabilities.

The Regional Safety Index is an indicator that annually compiles major safety-related statistics to objectively represent each region's safety level and safety awareness. The Ministry of Interior and Safety measures six safety categories for each region (△traffic accidents △fires △crime △daily life safety △suicide △infectious disease), classifying and announcing them on a scale of 1 to 5 grades. A grade closer to 1 means relatively higher safety.

In the 'Regional Safety Index for 2025' announced on January 12, the city obtained grade 1 in three of the six categories—traffic accidents, fires, and daily life safety—and received an excellent rating of grade 2 in the three categories of crime, suicide, and infectious disease.

As a result of this evaluation, the city was included among the only 4 basic municipal governments nationwide receiving grades 1 and 2 in all categories, and notably, it is the sole representative in the capital region, reaffirming its status as the nation's safest city.

A city official stated, "Based on these results, we will continue to make our best efforts to create a safe urban environment where citizens can go about their lives with peace of mind."
