Suwon Selected as Top-Performing Local Government in 2025 Non-Tax Revenue Operations Evaluation by Ministry of Interior and Safety

[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Jung Jun-seong] Suwon Special City announced on the 9th that it has been selected as a top-performing local government in the '2025 Non-Tax Revenue Operations Performance Comprehensive Evaluation' overseen by the Ministry of Interior and Safety and received the Minister's Award.

The city received the top excellence award in the 2025 non-tax revenue comprehensive evaluation overseen by Gyeonggi Province, and was also selected as a top-performing local government in this Ministry of Interior and Safety evaluation, establishing itself as a leading local government in non-tax revenue management.

The Ministry of Interior and Safety has been analyzing and evaluating the non-tax revenue billing and collection performance of 243 metropolitan and local governments nationwide annually since 2015 to increase the non-tax revenue collection rate. The 2025 non-tax revenue operations performance comprehensive evaluation period covered January 1, 2024 to December 31, 2025.

After classifying into 14 groups according to population and financial conditions, the final score is calculated by summing the quantitative evaluation scores centered on overall non-tax revenue collection rate and debt management performance, along with points for discovering best practices and comprehensive special accounting management.

Despite unfavorable collection conditions due to economic slowdown in Gyeonggi, Suwon City collected 291.1 billion won, an increase of 52.5 billion won from the previous year. The city received high marks by implementing special non-tax revenue collection measures and continuously making efforts to raise the collection rate by sharing best practices.

A city official stated, "Non-tax revenue is dispersed across multiple departments managing individual laws, making systematic management challenging," and added "As a result of each department collaborating and all public officials working to increase the collection rate, the collection amount increased by 22% compared to the previous year."

The official continued, "Going forward, we will operate non-tax revenue fairly and efficiently to strengthen city finances and implement administration that earns citizens' trust."
