Uiwang City Hosts 37th Uiwang Philharmonic Orchestra Regular Concert

[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Yoo Je-sung] Uiwang City will hold the '37th Uiwang Philharmonic Orchestra Regular Concert' on Thursday, the 26th at 7:30 p.m. at Gyeonggi Central Church (27 Morak-ro).

The performance has been organized to welcome the new year 2026 with the theme 'Beginning of Powerful Resonance,' sharing messages of hope and leap with citizens, and to expand the foundation of local culture and arts while raising cultural pride in the community.

On stage, the Uiwang Philharmonic Orchestra led by conductor Jang Myeong-geun will present a profound orchestral sound. Additionally, soprano Yeo Na-hyun and tenor Ha Se-hoon will take part to deliver a high-level collaborative performance.

The concert program begins with Dvořák's 'Carnival Overture,' followed by familiar vocal pieces including Lehár's 'My Lips Bid You Good Day,' Puccini's 'O My Beloved Father,' Agustín Lara's 'Granada,' and Cardillo's 'Core 'ngrato.'

Notably, Dvořák's Symphony No. 9 'From the New World' will feature a complete performance of all movements, presenting a grand and moving stage. Finally, Verdi's 'Brindisi (The Drinking Song)' will heighten the atmosphere of a hopeful new year.

The concert will be held on a first-come, first-served basis with free admission and no advance reservations. Attendees may use the parking lot at the Catholic Diocese of Suwon Second Deanery Office (99-1 Ojeon-dong) and the parking lot at the entrance of Ojeon Cathedral (99-25 Ojeon-dong).

Mayor Kim Sung-je stated, "I hope this New Year's concert becomes a meaningful time to convey the energy of a fresh start to citizens," adding, "We will continue to create an environment where all citizens can enjoy culture and arts in their daily lives through high-quality performances."
