Osan City Completes Renovation of Seokyo Apartment Complex 6 Access Ramp

[Suwon Ilbo=Park Chan-hyuk Reporter] Osan City has undertaken improvements to the area following on-site inspections, as concerns over traffic congestion and accidents during rush hours persist as detour vehicles concentrate on the southern access ramp of Seokyo Apartment Complex 6 following the restriction of Seobu-ro.

The city announced on the 26th that it has completed lane repainting and reinstallation of traffic safety facilities in the ramp section connecting Osandaeyeok-ro to Seobu-ro to improve traffic flow.

The section has experienced heightened intersection congestion as detour traffic increased due to partial restriction on Seobu-ro, and collision risks have been raised during the merging process of incoming vehicles. In particular, continuous traffic complaints have been generated, with vehicle queues extending particularly during morning commute hours.

Accordingly, on the 13th, the city conducted a joint inspection with Mayor Lee Kwon-jae, city officials, and the Osan Police Station at the site during morning rush hour. During the inspection, it was confirmed that the entrance geometry, lane operation methods, and placement of safety facilities did not align with the actual traffic flow.

Based on the inspection results, the city reconfigured lanes to facilitate smooth merging of ramp entry vehicles and reinforced traffic safety facilities, completing the improvement work tailored to on-site conditions on the 15th.

Additionally, a temporary detour road connecting Geum'am Intersection to Gasa Intersection on Seobu-ro is scheduled to open in May, with expectations for traffic distribution effects as well.

Mayor Lee Kwon-jae stated, "We are focusing on reducing inconvenience to residents by promptly addressing issues identified on site," and added, "We will continue to improve the traffic environment with high perceived benefits, centered on major congestion areas."
