Suwon's Top Proactive Administration Achievement for First Half of 2026: 'Improving Neglected School Routes for 27 Years'

[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Jung Jun-sung] The project 'Breaking the conventional mold and securing children's safety: Improving school routes neglected for 27 years' has been selected as the top proactive administration achievement for Suwon Metropolitan City in the first half of 2026.

The city held the '2026 First Half Suwon Proactive Administration Excellence Showcase Competition' in the main conference room of City Hall on the 16th.

After combining scores from first-round preliminary screening with expert and civil servant participation and online preference voting to select cases advancing to the finals, the city underwent second-round finals review by the proactive administration committee and selected five outstanding cases from Suwon City and two outstanding cases from collaborative organizations.

The top honor went to the Innovation Civil Services Division's project 'Breaking the conventional mold and securing children's safety: Improving school routes neglected for 27 years.' The project received high acclaim for actively improving long-unresolved school route issues in collaboration with a veteran team leader from the Saebbit Civil Services Center and creating a safe pedestrian environment for students.

The excellence award went to Gwonseon-gu Health Center's 'From blocking e-cigarette exposure in front of schools to strengthening tobacco regulations: Erasing e-cigarettes from teenagers' daily lives,' while the encouragement award went to the Elderly Welfare Division's 'Visit Zero(ZERO!) Inconvenience (ZERO!) Streamlining the qualification verification process for free meals for elderly citizens.'

The effort award was given to the Family Policy Division's 'Even parenting beginners become top parenting instructors: Suwon Dads Raising Kids' and the Public Transportation Division's 'Breaking through regulatory barriers, accelerating one year into three: Future-oriented Suwon autonomous riding 'Saebbit DRT' pioneering model construction,' with two selected.

In the collaborative organization category, the top honor went to the Suwon Foundation for Culture's 'Saving tourism facilities with SNS short-form videos: 120,000 won generates 300,000 views!', while the excellence award went to the Suwon Convention Center Foundation's 'MICE employment blooming! Solving employment difficulties through work experience!'

The city will present prize money to departments selected as outstanding proactive administration cases. Prize amounts are 2.5 million won for top honor, 1 million won for excellence, 700,000 won for encouragement, and 400,000 won for effort awards. Collaborative organizations will receive commendations from the Suwon Mayor.

Outstanding proactive administration civil servants will be provided with various incentives including the highest grade performance bonus, achievement point deductions, commendations, and reward vacation.

A city official stated, "The efforts to break conventions and actively promote work from the citizens' perspective have led to meaningful achievements," adding "We will expand the proactive administration culture throughout the public service sector and provide administrative services that citizens can feel."
