Eyeong-ri 'Eyesore Apartment' in Janghowan-eup, Icheon Resumes Construction After 27 Years

[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Eom In-yong] The so-called 'Eyeong-ri Eyesore Apartment' in Eyeong-ri, Janghowan-eup, Icheon City, which had been left abandoned for a long time and was considered a representative civic aspiration of the region, has resumed construction after 27 years.

As construction on the apartment complex was halted for an extended period, it not only damaged the urban landscape but also caused resident inconvenience and safety concerns.

In response, Mayor Kim Gyeong-hee has pursued active administrative mediation, consultations with related agencies, and business normalization support since taking office in the 8th Civilian Government, resulting in the project being earnestly reinitiated and bearing fruit.

The project operator and construction company held a construction resumption ceremony and safety prayer at the project site in Eyeong-ri, Janghowan-eup on the morning of the 26th.

Local residents and related officials attended the event to jointly celebrate the normalization of the long-stalled project and to pray for safe and successful construction going forward.

The newly pursued apartment complex will make a fresh start under the name 'Casa Feliz.'

As the long-neglected site transforms into a residential space, positive effects are expected in improving the regional image, enhancing living conditions, and revitalizing surrounding commercial areas.

Mayor Kim Gyeong-hee stated, "The restart of the Eyeong-ri apartment project that has been on hold for 27 years is a precious achievement created together by citizens and the administration," and added, "Going forward, I will continue to pursue proactive administration to resolve citizen inconvenience and promote regional development and a pleasant urban environment."
