Gyeonggi Province Passes First Supplementary Budget of 41.68 Trillion Won…Expanding Livelihood and Energy Support

[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Kim Gap-dong] Gyeonggi Province's 2026 first supplementary budget passed the Gyeonggi Province Council on the 12th with a total scale of 41.68 trillion won.

This is an increase of 1.62 trillion won from this year's original budget of 40.06 trillion won, with the general account increasing by 1.61 trillion won and the special account by 10.3 billion won. The supplementary budget includes the livelihood economy breakwater role, guaranteed mobility for residents, three major packages for farm support, and pinpoint support projects for vulnerable groups.

Looking at the main contents, for the 'livelihood economy breakwater' role, 1.1504 trillion won has been allocated, including △high oil price damage support of 1.1335 trillion won △maternal and newborn health management support of 12.3 billion won △Gyeonggi Province veteran honor allowance support of 1 billion won △universal menstrual product support for Gyeonggi Province women and adolescents of 3.6 billion won.

The budget for guaranteeing residents' mobility is 149.2 billion won in total. By allocating budgets for promoting public transportation use including △metropolitan transit discount support of 63.4 billion won △The Gyeonggi Pass expansion support of 85.8 billion won, the actual burden of living expenses has been reduced.

For stabilizing farm management through 'fuel, feed, and vinyl' three major package support, a total of 1.3 billion won has been reflected, including △tax-free fuel support for farmers and fishermen of 700 million won △African swine fever suspected feed damage support of 400 million won △rice straw vinyl support for forage production of 200 million won, implementing expanded support to areas not covered by government support.

For pinpoint support to vulnerable groups' blind spots, a total of 4.5 billion won has been allocated, including △emergency welfare for crisis households of 2.7 billion won △investigation support for delinquent taxpayers of 1.7 billion won △special hot weather cooling expense support for women, single-parent, and children facilities of 100 million won.

Gov. Kim Dong-yeon of Gyeonggi Province attended the 390th extraordinary session of Gyeonggi Province Council on the day and said, "The budget you have decided today will be an important pillar that opens the breathing room for the contracted livelihood economy and protects the lives of residents," adding "As South Korea's largest local government, Gyeonggi Province will further increase the speed and completeness of execution so that the government supplementary budget translates into tangible results at livelihood sites."
