Icheon City Extends Application Deadline for 2026 Strategic Crop Direct Payment (Summer Crops) to June 30

[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Eom In-yong] Icheon City announced on the 16th that it is extending the application period for the 2026 Strategic Crop Direct Payment (summer crops) from the original May 29 to June 30 to expand farmer participation and provide stable agricultural income support.

The Strategic Crop Direct Payment system is a program that provides direct payments to farmers who cultivate strategic crops on paddies to improve the rice-centered cultivation structure and increase food self-sufficiency.

Among summer strategic crops, forage crops receive the highest level of support at 5.5 million won per hectare, while legumes and flour rice are supported at 2 million won per hectare, and corn and sesame at 1.5 million won per hectare.

Additionally, double-cropping farms that cultivate winter crops such as wheat or forage crops and subsequently grow legumes, flour rice, or forage crops in summer can receive an additional incentive of 1 million won per hectare.

Rice for supply adjustment is also included in the support targets and is supported at 5 million won per hectare, further expanding the choices available to farmers.

Application targets are farmers and agricultural corporations who have completed agricultural management entity registration and meet the payment requirements, and must cultivate strategic crops on paddies actually used for agriculture.

However, black soybeans and bean sprout soybeans are excluded from the application period extension, so attention is required from the relevant farmers.
