Anyang City Commemorates 76th Anniversary of Korean War... "Peace Protected by War Heroes, Carried Forward by Future Generations"

[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Yoo Je-seong] Anyang City held the "76th Anniversary Commemoration of the Korean War" on the 25th at Mavelly Pyeongchon Branch to honor the noble sacrifices and dedication of war heroes.

The event, organized by the Anyang Chapter of the Korean War Veterans Association (Chapter President Kim Moon-hwa), was attended by approximately 150 people, including Anyang Mayor Choi Dae-ho, Chapter President Kim Moon-hwa, war veterans and their families, and heads of veterans organizations.

The ceremony proceeded solemnly in the following order: △national pledge △memorial address △encouragement remarks △commemorative performance △singing of Korean War songs. In particular, the performance by the Junior Choir of Dong-an Youth Training Center drew attention.

Kim Moon-hwa, President of the Anyang Chapter of the Korean War Veterans Association, stated, "The freedom and peace we enjoy today are precious achievements built upon the sacrifices of national heroes and war veterans," and added, "We must recall the lessons of the tragic Korean War and reaffirm our will to defend the nation for peace."

Anyang Mayor Choi Dae-ho expressed in his remarks, "I offer deep respect and gratitude to the war heroes and bereaved families," and said, "I will strengthen respect for those who have dedicated themselves to the nation so they can be honored in our community, and will faithfully pass on the spirit of national defense to future generations so that these noble values take deep root in our society."
