Suwon Special City to Build AI-Based 'Intelligent Pothole Detection Platform'

[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Jung Joon-sung] Suwon Special City will establish an 'Intelligent Pothole Detection Platform' based on artificial intelligence (AI) to rapidly detect and repair road potholes.

To this end, the city held a kickoff meeting for the 'AI-based Intelligent Pothole Detection Platform Construction Project' at the city hall conference room on the 26th and reported on the platform construction plan. Infinite Information Technology Co., Ltd. and INNODEP Co., Ltd. will undertake the project.

The kickoff meeting was chaired by Oh Min-beom, Director of the AI Smart Policy Bureau, with attendance from public officials from road maintenance-related departments and project personnel. The meeting shared the project implementation schedule and phased promotion plans.

The Intelligent Pothole Detection Platform is an AI-based detection system that automatically detects potholes and collects and analyzes location information using CCTV and vehicle-mounted AI camera footage.

The city plans to display detected pothole information on a Geographic Information System (GIS)-based map and establish a control system capable of integrated management of occurrence status, risk level, and processing status. The city also plans to build a business processing platform that systematizes pothole occurrence and response tasks to support pothole complaint reception, repair requests, result registration, and history management.

A city official stated, "With the construction of the AI-based pothole detection platform, we will create a system to more quickly detect and respond to road hazards," and added, "We will do our utmost to promote the project to protect citizens' safety and improve road management efficiency."
