'Cheongryangsan Suwon Campground' Attracts Summer Vacationers from Suwon!
[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Jung Jun-sung] Cheongryangsan Suwon Campground (13 Gwangseok-gil, Myeongho-myeon, Bonghwa-gun, North Gyeongsang Province), which boasts beautiful scenery across all four seasons, is gaining popularity as a summer vacation destination full of attractions.
In preparation for summer, Cheongryangsan Suwon Campground has activated a ground fountain at the campground to keep campers cool during the hot season. The special summer programs this year include △making constellation lanterns △Cheongryangsan yoga and meditation therapy △making homemade syrup using Bonghwa specialty products △Cheongryangsan living woodworking classes (such as wood speakers).
Bonghwa-gun, known for its clear natural environment, is a suitable family vacation destination for summer holidays. The '2026 Bonghwa Sweetfish Festival' will be held in the Naeseongcheon area from July 25 to August 2, and visitors can experience rafting on the Bonghwa Nakdonggang River. At the National Baekdudaegan Arboretum, visitors can see beautiful trees and tigers.
Cheongryangsan Suwon Campground is available to anyone. Those wishing to use the facility can make lottery-based reservations from the 1st to the 15th of each month, from 10 a.m. on the 1st to 10 a.m. on the 15th via the CampingTalk app and website (www.campingtalk.me) (August reservations are from July 1-15).
50% of total facilities are assigned through lottery prioritizing Suwon and Bonghwa residents, and the remaining 50% are assigned through random lottery. Winners are announced at 10 a.m. on the 16th, and payment must be completed within 24 hours after the announcement to confirm the reservation. Remaining facilities not reserved are offered on a first-come, first-served basis starting at 11 a.m. on the 17th of that month.
A 50% discount on campground usage fees is provided for Suwon residents, Bonghwa residents, national basic livelihood security recipients, national veterans, persons with disabilities, and multi-child families.
Cheongryangsan Suwon Campground is equipped with 12 auto camping sites including 9 deck camping sites and 3 gravel sites, and 18 lodging facilities including 6 caravans for 6 people, 5 easy camping sites (mini caravans), and 7 glamping units.
The campground features landscaping and recreational facilities such as gardens, ground fountains, playgrounds, grass fields (natural playgrounds), and viewing decks, as well as auxiliary facilities including restrooms, shower rooms, water stations, washbasins, and a Suwon City promotion center, along with conveniences such as parasols and personal fire pits.
'Cheongryangsan Suwon Campground,' the fruit of cooperation between Suwon City and Bonghwa-gun, opened on October 22 last year. From its opening through May 31 this year, 6,067 people have used the facility, representing a 67% increase compared to Bonghwa-gun's operating period (November 1, 2023 to May 31, 2024). The campground's occupancy rate reached 71.3%, a 40.4 percentage point increase from before opening (30.9%).
Among the 6,067 visitors through May 31 this year, Suwon residents numbered 4,038, representing 67% of the total.
Since 2015, Suwon City and Bonghwa-gun have maintained continued exchange by visiting each other's representative festivals, and in June 2024, they signed a friendly city agreement. Suwon City promoted the development of Cheongryangsan Suwon Campground to establish cooperation with Bonghwa-gun, a friendly city facing demographic decline and potential extinction. Bonghwa-gun transferred the campground operating rights to Suwon City for 10 years free of charge, and Suwon City improved the facilities and developed and operates the campground.
