Gyeonggi Province Named Excellent Agency for Second Consecutive Year in Ministry of Interior and Safety's National Safety Management Plan Evaluation
[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Kim Gapdong] Gyeonggi Province was selected as an "Excellent Agency" for the second consecutive year in the "2026 National Safety Management Plan Performance Analysis and Evaluation" conducted by the Ministry of Interior and Safety, further demonstrating the province's national-leading disaster safety management capabilities, the province announced on the 2nd.
The "National Safety Management Plan Performance Evaluation" is a system implemented by the Ministry of Interior and Safety since 2025 to comprehensively analyze and evaluate the effective establishment of safety management plans, implementation performance, and feedback systems for all national disaster management responsible agencies including central ministries, local governments, and public institutions. According to this evaluation results, among 17 metropolitan and provincial governments, 4 were rated "Excellent," 12 as "Average," and 1 as "Requiring Effort."
The province received high evaluations across all 6 indicators: △appropriateness of disaster and safety management measures establishment △reflection rate of disaster safety budget △execution rate of disaster and safety management budget △cooperation with disaster management responsible agencies △complementation of previous year's shortcomings △improvements in related laws and systems.
In establishing the safety management plan, the province formulated effective disaster and safety management measures tailored to regional characteristics and enhanced budget investment performance through planned allocation and swift execution of disaster safety budgets. Additionally, the province actively responded in the feedback sector by building a close cooperation system among related disaster management responsible agencies and complementing previous year's shortcomings.
The province plans to share the outcomes of this evaluation with 31 cities and counties and disaster management responsible agencies within the province, and will reflect indicators requiring complementary improvements in next year's safety management plan development, with the goal of strengthening the safety net for residents.
