Hwaseong Special City and Wanju County Sign Agreement to Vitalize Local Food and Promote Urban-Rural Cooperation

[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Jung Jun-sung] Hwaseong Special City signed a business agreement with Wanju County in Jeollabuk-do on the 9th at Hwaseong City Hall to vitalize local food and strengthen urban-rural cooperation.

At the signing ceremony, roughly 10 officials including Hwaseong Mayor Jung Myung-geun and Wanju County Governor Yu Hee-tae attended to discuss cooperation measures for establishing a sustainable food system and mutual development between regions.

Both organizations agreed through this agreement to cooperate on: △activating local food direct sales stores and expanding sales channels △establishing a stable supply system for premium agricultural and specialty products △developing and distributing agricultural product processed goods △sharing best practices in food policies and operations △promoting exchange and cooperation projects for urban-rural coexistence.

This agreement is expected to serve as an opportunity for both organizations to expand cooperation in the local food sector and establish a foundation for sustainable urban-rural mutual prosperity.

Hwaseong City plans to leverage its large consumer market and distribution infrastructure, while Wanju County, drawing on accumulated operational experience as a leader in the local food sector and its premium agricultural product production base, will continue cooperation that maximizes respective strengths.

The city plans to make this agreement more concrete through enhanced cooperation with Wanju County and create exemplary cases of urban-rural coexistence.

Mayor Jung Myung-geun said, “This agreement will serve as an opportunity to further solidify trust and solidarity between the two local governments and expand future-oriented agricultural cooperation, transcending simple agricultural product exchange,” and added, “We will continuously expand local food cooperation to provide citizens with fresh and safe food and secure stable markets for farming households.”

County Governor Yu Hee-tae said, “Wanju County will actively cooperate with Hwaseong Special City based on experience and capabilities accumulated through pioneering local food policies,” and said, “I hope this agreement will enhance the competitiveness of agriculture in both regions and lead to revitalization of the local economy and strengthening of the public nature of food.”
