Hwaseong Special City Designates August as Resident Tax Payment Month... Total of Approximately 4.7 Billion Won Levied
Hwaseong Special City (Mayor Jeong Myeong-geun) is operating a period for payment of the regular resident tax (individual portion) and the filing and payment of the resident tax (business office portion) through the 31st of this month.
The regular resident tax (individual portion) is levied on household heads with a residence in Hwaseong Special City as of July 1 each year. This year, the city levied a total of 4,771,930,000 won across 409,801 cases of the regular resident tax (individual portion) and mailed notices to each household. The payment period runs from August 16 to 31.
The resident tax (business office portion) is subject to filing and payment by corporations with a business office in Hwaseong Special City as of July 1 each year, as well as by individual business operators whose value-added tax base amount for the previous year was 80 million won or more. Taxpayers must file and pay directly.
For taxpayers' convenience, the city sent out 93,748 payment forms with the tax amount recorded to those subject to filing and payment of the resident tax (business office portion). Taxpayers who receive a payment form may verify the recorded tax amount and pay it without a separate filing procedure. However, if the details recorded on the payment form, such as the business office's total floor area, differ from the actual situation, they must file and pay separately. The resident tax (business office portion) can be filed through Wetax or the tax department of each district office via mail, fax, or in person.
The resident tax can be paid through financial institutions nationwide as well as via virtual accounts, Wetax, Internet Giro, ARS (142211), and simple payment apps (KakaoPay, PAYCO, Naver Pay).
Noh Jong-sun, head of the Tax Administration Division, said, "The resident tax is a valuable source of funding used to provide public services for citizens, so we ask that you pay it faithfully within the deadline," adding, "As we are providing a variety of payment services so that taxpayers can file and pay more conveniently, we ask that you check in advance so as not to miss the deadline."
