Hwaseong Special City (Mayor Jeong Myeong-geun) successfully held the ‘2026 Hwaseong Special City Residents' Autonomy Festival Stage Competition’ at Hwaseong Art Hall in the U&I Center on the 12th.

Held under the subtitle ‘One Stage, One Hwaseong! Making Everyone Dance,’ this event was organized to allow participants in the residents' autonomy center programs to share the skills they have built up with citizens, and to spread the value of residents' autonomy and community culture through exchange and harmony among eup, myeon, and dong.

About 600 people, including residents' autonomy center program participants and residents' autonomy council members, attended the event that day. Major guests, including Hwaseong Special City Mayor Jeong Myeong-geun, Hwaseong Special City Council Chairman Lee Gye-cheol, National Assembly members, and provincial and city council members, also joined to encourage the participants.

In the stage competition that followed the opening ceremony, representative teams from the residents' autonomy centers of Hwaseong Special City's eup, myeon, and dong took part, presenting performances across a variety of genres including dance and vocal music.

Participants freely displayed the skills and talents they had honed through the residents' autonomy center programs on stage, drawing an enthusiastic response from the audience. In particular, residents from the eup, myeon, and dong gathered in one place to enjoy and cheer for each other's performances, sharing a meaningful time that strengthened exchange and harmony among residents.

Hwaseong Special City Mayor Jeong Myeong-geun said, “The residents' autonomy center is the central space of the local community where residents learn, communicate, and grow together,” adding, “I hope this stage becomes an occasion where residents can fully express their passion and talents while communicating and coming together to share the value of residents' autonomy.”

Hwaseong Special City plans to operate a variety of residents' autonomy programs that anyone can easily take part in, and to continue its support for creating resident-led local communities and revitalizing residents' autonomy.
