An Min-seok Visualizes 'Zero Administrative Tasks for Teachers'… Four Pilot Education Support Offices Selected
The Gyeonggi Province Office of Education (Superintendent An Min-seok) has selected the nation's first 'pilot education support offices for zero administrative tasks for teachers' and is launching a full-fledged initiative to create schools where teachers can focus on educational activities.
On August 28, the Gyeonggi Province Office of Education and four pilot education support offices (Ansan Education Support Office, Yangpyeong Education Support Office, Pyeongtaek Education Support Office, and Pocheon Education Support Office) held a signing ceremony for 'zero administrative tasks for teachers' at the South Campus of the Gyeonggi Province Office of Education.
At the event, the initiative formally declared its commitment to eliminating administrative tasks for teachers, and expressed the determination that education support offices would actively make efforts to enable teachers to focus solely on educational activities.
This agreement is characterized by transcending the limitations of existing simple task reduction or job reassignment adjustments, and establishing a 'zero administrative tasks for teachers' model led by education support offices.
The pilot education support offices will analyze the characteristics of their regions, establish their own plans to achieve zero administrative tasks for teachers, and directly discover and analyze tasks in school settings to promote substantive improvements.
To this end, the offices plan to introduce new systems including △task restructuring △simplification △automation △administrative teacher positions to dramatically reduce the administrative workload felt by teachers and establish a support system enabling schools to dedicate themselves to educational activities.
The verified results and practical models from the four pilot education support offices will be discovered and standardized, and rapidly disseminated to 21 education support offices. All 25 education support offices are expected to implement 'zero administrative tasks for teachers' early by operating according to their own plans reflecting local conditions and school site requirements.
Gyeonggi Province Superintendent of Education An Min-seok said, "I hope that each regional education support office superintendent will faithfully fulfill their role as a field expert based on the provincial office of education's fundamental principles and direction," and added, "Based on the pioneering operations of the four pilot education support offices, I hope all education support offices will be able to actively promote the elimination of administrative tasks for teachers tailored to the characteristics of each region."
