Hwaseong Opens Third 'Mobile Worker Rest Shelter' in Bongdam…Operating 24/7 Unmanned

Hwaseong Special City (Mayor Jeong Myeong-geun) opened the 'Mobile Worker Rest Shelter No. 3' on the 31st near the Donghwa Parking Tower public parking lot in Bongdam-eup (601 Donghwa-ri, Bongdam-eup) and launched full-scale operations.

This shelter is the third mobile worker rest shelter following Shelter No. 1, which opened at Dongtan North Plaza in February of last year, and Shelter No. 2, which was established at 1471-2 Hagil-ri, Hyangnnam-eup in November of the same year.

The city established the shelter to provide a safe and comfortable resting space for mobile workers who work outdoors for extended hours, including △substitute drivers △delivery and parcel service drivers △learning materials teachers. It will also be utilized as a livelihood safety shelter that any citizen can use in preparation for extreme heat and cold waves.

The interior of the shelter is equipped with various convenience facilities including sofas and tables, air conditioning and heating, hot and cold water dispensers, and mobile phone chargers so that mobile workers can rest comfortably.

Particularly considering the work characteristics of mobile workers who are actively engaged even during late-night hours, a QR code authentication access system and unmanned monitoring system have been introduced. The shelter operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Yu Jeong-hyun, Head of the Labor-Management Cooperation Division, stated, "The mobile worker rest shelter is a resting space to protect the health and safety of workers engaged in outdoor activities amid climate crises such as extreme heat and cold waves," and added, "We hope that this third shelter will become a space where mobile workers can rest comfortably and recharge whenever they need to."
