Hwaseong Fire Station announced on the 29th that it rescued a woman in her 20s who was stranded in waters off Gungpyeong Port near Gungpyeong-ri, Seosin-myeon, Hwaseong City, after becoming isolated by rising tides.

The woman was swimming near Gungpyeong Port when the incoming tide increased the water depth, preventing her from returning to shore and leaving her stranded in the waters. A passerby nearby heard her screams and reported the incident to emergency services.

Upon arrival, responders were unable to confirm her location due to nighttime darkness, so they narrowed down the search by following the screams. With the cooperation of the private vessel Sodamho, they located the victim in waters approximately 500 meters from the beach. The responders donned safety equipment, entered the water, rescued the woman, and transported her by Sodamho to Gungpyeong Port.

The rescued person showed signs of hypothermia but had no serious injuries. She declined hospital transfer and was handed over to her guardian to return home.

Jeong Gwi-yong, chief of Hwaseong Fire Station, said, "Since securing visibility in waters is difficult at night, accident risks are significant. Please avoid swimming at night and check tide and weather conditions beforehand."
