Councilwoman Sa Jung-hee: "Gyeonggi South Mega Rail Project Must Be Reflected in 5th National Railroad Network Plan and Brought to Suwon"

Suwon Special City Council Member Sa Jung-hee stated during the five-minute free speech at the 1st plenary session of the 404th extraordinary session held on the 1st, "I urge the reflection of the Gyeonggi South Mega Rail Project in the 5th National Railroad Network Construction Plan and its designation in Suwon."

The Gyeonggi South Mega Rail Project is a metropolitan railway project spanning approximately 50.7 kilometers, connecting Jamsil in Seoul with Seongnam, Yongin, Suwon, and Hwaseong. It is recognized as a key infrastructure to address wide-area transportation demand in the southern Gyeonggi region. It is also expected to play a role in connecting areas where future industries are concentrated, including Pangyo Techno Valley, Samsung Electronics, and the K-semiconductor belt.

Councilwoman Sa stated, "Since Suwon is a core city in the semiconductor industry and the project has secured economic feasibility with a benefit-cost ratio (B/C) of 1.2, I request that the Gyeonggi Province and Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport be urged to consider bringing the project to Suwon."

Councilwoman Sa said, "Citizens' mobility is Suwon's competitiveness," and also proposed strengthening a dedicated response system, expanding specialized personnel, and establishing a station at Shinmaetan Crossroads as a stop within Suwon, taking into account the transportation needs of residents in Maetan-dong and others.
