Gyeonggi Province, Provincial Assembly, and Education Office Form 'Policy Tripartite Formation'
Gyeonggi Province, together with the Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly and Gyeonggi Office of Education, will hold 31 sessions of the '2026 Gyeonggi Province·Gyeonggi Education Policy Forum' from September to December on provincial governance and education issues, reflecting the opinions of residents and experts in policy.
Gyeonggi Province held the '2026 Gyeonggi Province·Gyeonggi Education Policy Forum Opening Ceremony' at the Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly Hall on September 1st and officially began the second-half policy forums. This year's policy forums are scheduled for a total of 40 sessions. Nine sessions were conducted in the first half, and 31 sessions will be held in the second half.
The opening ceremony was attended by Ju Hyung-cheol, Vice Governor of Economic Affairs for Gyeonggi Province, Nam Jong-seop, Speaker of the Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly, An Gwang-ryul, Representative Member of the Democratic Party, Bang Sung-hwan, Representative Member of the People Power Party, and Yoon So-young, Acting First Vice Superintendent of Education for Gyeonggi Office of Education. The opening ceremony featured opening remarks and congratulatory addresses.
The policy forums are a joint cooperative project promoted by Gyeonggi Province and the Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly since 2018 to discover policy agendas that meet the needs of residents and expand resident and municipal participation in provincial governance. Residents, provincial assembly members, relevant field experts, provincial and municipal civil servants, and on-site officials participate to discuss policy alternatives on regional and sectoral issues.
The first Gyeonggi Province policy forum of the second half will be held on September 15th at the Munsan Happiness Center Small Concert Hall in Paju City. Provincial Assembly Member Kim Soon-hyun will serve as moderator and discuss opinions from the field and improvement measures on the theme of 'civilian damage caused by military obstacles in northern Gyeonggi region and resolution measures.' The themes, schedules, and locations of the remaining forums will be announced at a later date.
Any Gyeonggi Province resident can participate in the policy forums, and the discussion process can be followed through on-site observation and live streaming on the Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly's official YouTube channel (www.youtube.com/@ggassembly).
Ju Hyung-cheol, Vice Governor of Economic Affairs for Gyeonggi Province, stated, "Good policies become stronger when diverse opinions are freely discussed and wisdom is pooled together," and added, "I hope the forums become productive venues for public discussion that make residents' lives more enriched and help us draw Gyeonggi Province's future together, and I will do my best to ensure that the opinions proposed lead to substantive policies."
Nam Jong-seop, Speaker of the Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly, said, "The policy forums are a place to make Gyeonggi's provincial governance and educational administration challenges public and find realistic solutions," adding, "When the issues discussed in the forums lead to policies for residents and the changes resulting from them are felt in residents' lives, the significance of the policy forums will be completed. I hope we can create changes needed by residents one by one."
Yoon So-young, Acting First Vice Superintendent of Education for Gyeonggi Office of Education, stated, "The Gyeonggi Office of Education is vigorously pushing forward the 'Great Transformation of Gyeonggi Education' to create schools where students look forward to school, teachers are respected, and parents feel assured," and added, "We will carefully listen to the voices from the education field and various policy proposals gathered at the policy forums and carry them forward as changes in Gyeonggi education."
