Yongin 'Forest of Peace' Establishes 7,116 Outdoor Wall-type Burial Niches

Yongin Special City (Mayor Lee Sang-il) announced that it completed the construction of an outdoor wall-type burial niche facility on September 1st at the 'Yongin Forest of Peace'.

The city prepared burial niches with a capacity of 7,116 units to respond to the growing demand for cremation and enshrinement services and to provide citizens with diverse funeral facilities.

The 'Yongin Forest of Peace' includes △burial halls (34,564 units·occupancy rate 83.2%) △burial plots (3,526 units·occupancy rate 99.4%) △tree burial grounds (708 units·occupancy rate 86.3%) △lawn burial areas (5,338 units·occupancy rate 63.7%), and as occupancy rates of existing enshrinement facilities have been rising, the need to expand new funeral facility options has been raised.

The city expects that the construction of burial niches will supplement the capacity of existing enshrinement facilities in operation and secure diverse facilities to provide citizens with improved funeral services.

A city official stated, "We have newly constructed burial niches to stably respond to citizens' cremation and enshrinement demands using the Yongin Forest of Peace and to expand their choices," and added, "We will carefully monitor the usage and demand of funeral facilities and make efforts to manage and operate the 'Forest of Peace' so that citizens can conveniently use the facilities."
