Three Hwaseong Special City Fencing Club Members Selected for National Team Heading to Nagoya Asian Games

Hwaseong Special City (Mayor Jung Myung-geun) announced on the 11th that fencing athletes Lee Kwang-hyun, Lim Chul-woo, and Yoon Jung-hyun, all belonging to the city hall athletic club's fencing division, have been selected as Republic of Korea national representatives and will compete in the '2026 Aichi·Nagoya Asian Games.'

Athletes Lee Kwang-hyun, Lim Chul-woo, and Yoon Jung-hyun were selected for the national team after earning recognition for their skills through consistent performances in major domestic and international competitions. In particular, with three players from the Hwaseong Special City Hall Fencing Club representing the national team with the Taegeuk mark, expectations are high for their performance at the upcoming Asian Games.

Notably, the men's foil team event is evaluated as a sport where the Republic of Korea possesses Asia's strongest competitive power. The three athletes from Hwaseong Special City Hall are expected to play a key role on the national team based on their rich competition experience and outstanding skills.

The Hwaseong Special City Hall Fencing Club has established itself as a top-tier professional team through continuous player development and systematic training, and is contributing to the advancement of South Korean fencing by producing numerous national representatives.

Hwaseong Special City Mayor Jung Myung-geun said, "It is meaningful that three athletes from Hwaseong Special City Hall will take the stage at the Asian Games with the Taegeuk mark," adding, "I hope they will fully display the skills they have honed and bring honor to the Republic of Korea and Hwaseong Special City, and I ask our citizens to send strong support to our athletes."

Meanwhile, the 2026 Aichi·Nagoya Asian Games will be held throughout Aichi Prefecture and Nagoya City, Japan from September 19 to October 4. Fencing competitions are scheduled to take place from September 20 to 27, and the Republic of Korea fencing national team will compete for medals in various events including men's foil individual and team competitions.
