Yangju City Breaks Barriers with Education Office—Joint Response to Educational Support Office Separation and Establishment

Yangju City is joining hands with the Gyeonggi Province Office of Education and the Dongducheon-Yangju Office of Education to address local educational issues, crossing the boundaries between educational administration and general administration.

On the 9th, the city signed a "Win-win Cooperation Barrier-Breaking" business agreement with the Gyeonggi Province Office of Education and the Dongducheon-Yangju Office of Education to jointly respond to major educational issues.

The agreement was established to enable the education office and local government to create an educational environment that students and citizens can experience by linking regional educational, cultural, welfare, and sports resources to education.

The three institutions will jointly promote five common tasks—△expanding Phone-Free culture △promoting Yangju-style reading, arts, and sports (RAS) character education △sharing schools and local facilities △expanding educational budgets and realizing educational autonomy △cooperating on school complex facilities—and five regional agenda tasks including △separating and establishing the Yangju Office of Education △designating an educational innovation-leading area △resolving student placement issues △building an elementary-middle-high IB education belt △policy cooperation for local education development.

In particular, the separation and establishment of the Yangju Office of Education is one of the core tasks of the agreement. Amid rapid urban growth and increasing student numbers where educational demand is rapidly changing, Yangju City is preparing necessary foundations such as securing temporary and new office premises to provide educational administrative services tailored to local characteristics.

An Min-seok, Gyeonggi Province Superintendent of Education, stated at the Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly plenary session on the 3rd regarding the separation and establishment of the integrated education support office, "Yangju and Hanam are best prepared," and "Since building takes time, we have prepared spaces that can be immediately used with just a sign," highly evaluating Yangju City's proactive preparations.
