738 Participants Recruited for DIY Skewer-Making Experience at '2026 Suwon Skewer Festival'

Suwon Special City (Mayor Lee Jae-jun) is recruiting 738 participants for the "DIY Skewer-Making" experience program hosted at the '2026 Suwon Skewer Festival' from September 14 to 18.

The "DIY Skewer-Making" program is a food safety experience program at the 2026 Suwon Skewer Festival, which will be held from October 3 to 5 at the Suwon Fortress Museum Auxiliary Parking Lot. Participants can make various types of skewers and experience food cultures from around the world.

The pre-registration programs include: 'Tteok-Tteok Factory' for making Korean rice cake skewers (18 sessions, 270 participants); 'Colorful Fruit Skewer Styling' using fruits (9 sessions, 180 participants); 'Today I'm a Global Chef!' experiencing food cultures from Romania, Mexico, and Japan (9 sessions, 216 participants); and 'Skewer Master' board game competition preliminaries (3 sessions, 72 participants).

The top 8 participants from the 'Skewer Master' preliminaries will advance to the finals held on the outdoor stage at the festival grounds.

Registration can be completed on Suwon City's civic participation platform 'Saebit Talk-Talk' from September 14 to 18. Registration will close once the recruitment capacity for each program is reached.

At the festival venue, on-site registration programs will also be operated, including 'Skewer-filled Rice Cake Life,' 'Stick-Packed Skewer Bakery,' 'Sparkly Face Painting,' 'Decorate Your Own Sun Cap,' and 'Proper Hand Washing Experience.' 'Skewer Bakery' will accept pre-reservations only for the October 3 program at 2:30 p.m.

A Suwon City official said, "The 2026 Suwon Skewer Festival is prepared so that citizens and tourists can experience and enjoy diverse skewer culture," and added, "We hope many citizens will participate in the 'DIY Skewer-Making' program operated through pre-registration."
