Hwaseong Special City Concludes 'Yeonji-Gonji Savings Account' Program with Over 1,000 Participants

Hwaseong Special City (Mayor Chung Myung-geun) has concluded recruitment for its 2026 participants in the 'Yeonji-Gonji Savings Account' program, a marriage incentive matching savings account initiative pioneered nationwide, with over 1,000 applicants.

Notably, this year the city introduced the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's 'Public My Data' to improve the complex document submission procedures that previous participants had identified as a major inconvenience. As a result, the documents that applicants must personally prepare have been significantly reduced, enhancing application convenience.

The 'Yeonji-Gonji Savings Account' is a marriage incentive matching savings account program first implemented nationwide by Hwaseong Special City in 2025, designed to support asset formation among young people considering marriage and to alleviate the economic and emotional burdens associated with marriage.

Previously, applicants had to obtain and submit five types of administrative documents required for program application. Starting this year, by linking Public My Data, when applicants authenticate themselves and consent to information sharing, the system can verify the necessary information to confirm eligibility through the platform.

Accordingly, the documents applicants must personally prepare have been reduced from five types to one type. By reducing the time and hassle required to obtain and submit documents, citizens can now apply for the program more conveniently.

Based on this experience with the 'Yeonji-Gonji Savings Account,' the city plans to identify additional areas where Public My Data can be utilized. In particular, the city intends to expand the use of Public My Data to low-birth-rate response projects such as the 'Hwaseong Exploration' initiative to reduce the documents and administrative procedures citizens must directly submit.

Hwaseong Special City Mayor Chung Myung-geun stated, "The introduction of Public My Data has significantly reduced the inconvenience citizens faced in individually obtaining and submitting multiple administrative documents," and added, "The significance of this small change in simplifying administrative procedures is that it translates into practical convenience for citizens."
