Suwon Office of Education Opens Future Education Through Science and Art Fusion with RAS
Suwon Office of Education (Director of Education Kim Hye-ri) held the 'Suwon Student Science Academic Conference' and 'Arts·Science Fusion Future Education Concert' at Ajou University's Yeonam Hall on the 12th.
The event was organized to invigorate student-led scientific inquiry and arts·science fusion education based on RAS (Gyeonggi Province Arts and Physical Education), and to jointly explore the direction of human-centered AI·digital future education. Approximately 500 participants attended, including students enrolled in science-focused schools, elementary, middle and high school students from the region, parents, teachers, and education specialists.
In Part 1, the '2026 Suwon Student Science Academic Conference,' students from Suwon's science-focused schools shared the outcomes of their research projects. Students presented research results from various fields including physics, information technology, engineering, life sciences, and chemistry, and shared their inquiry processes through question-and-answer sessions.
In particular, professors from Ajou University and senior researchers from the Korea Nano Technology Research Institute and Next Generation Convergence Technology Research Institute participated as experts, providing consultation on research topic selection, experimental design, problem-solving processes, student autonomy, and collaboration. Students had the opportunity to reflect on the research's trial and error and problem-solving processes based on expert feedback and to advance their inquiry.
In Part 2, an 'Arts·Science Fusion Future Education Concert' was held with the theme 'Human-Centered AI Meets RAS.' Through Professor Jung Jae-seung's lecture titled 'In the Age of AI, What Should Humans Learn and How Should They Grow?,' the educational community reflected on human-centered AI education and the direction of education for dignified human growth.
Subsequently, the fusion possibilities of science and art were explored through Seoryool Band performances, 'Science and Arts Themed Talk,' and 'Questions for the Professors,' among other activities. In particular, by combining lectures and musical performances, a venue was created for the educational community to jointly experience and communicate about future education based on arts and physical education that RAS seeks to achieve.
Kim Hye-ri, Director of Education at Suwon Office of Education, stated, "Through the student science academic conference and future education concert, we were able to confirm the possibilities of student-led inquiry and arts·science fusion education," and added, "Based on RAS, we will actively support students in cultivating both scientific inquiry and artistic sensibility, and in developing human-centered future competencies."
