Suwon Holds 'Global Festival & K-Culture Road Seminar' to Chart Path for Three Major Suwon Hwaseong Festivals

Suwon Special City (Mayor Lee Jae-jun) held a 'Global Festival & K-Culture Road Seminar' at the Suwon Convention Center on the 16th, exploring development strategies for three major festivals: the Suwon Hwaseong Culture Festival, the Procession of King Jeongjo, and the Suwon Hwaseong Media Art festival.

The seminar was attended by Suwon Special City Mayor Lee Jae-jun, Suwon City Research Institute Director Kim Sung-jin, and directors of the three Suwon Hwaseong festivals. They listened to and discussed a presentation by Young Seok Jang, Director of Areum Jigi Foundation, titled 'Recommendations Regarding Suwon Global Cultural Tourism Festival Promotion Plans.'

Director Jang said, "Suwon already has many content resources," adding, "Rather than creating new content, we should strategically integrate and leverage existing resources," and emphasized that "we must build a 'Suwon-style year-round cultural city' and transform from a city that hosts festivals to one that produces culture."

He also proposed △a structure where a continuous creative ecosystem can be experienced throughout all four seasons △combining specific locations such as King Jeongjo, Suwon Hwaseong, traditional markets, craft studios, and Suwon Stream △cultural activities and cultural environments that citizens can enjoy in their daily lives △integrated branding of Suwon-Suwon Hwaseong-Jeongjo, program linkage, and data connections.

Mayor Lee Jae-jun stated, "The three Suwon Hwaseong festivals are a source of pride for Suwon citizens and tourism content that will enhance the city's brand value," and announced that "with the joint reenactment of the Procession of King Jeongjo as the theme, we plan to unite representative festivals from seven local governments into one and develop them into a K-Heritage tourism belt representing South Korea."
