Hwaseong Special City Formulates Implementation Plans for 53 GB-Released Districts' Long-Overdue Urban Facilities

Hwaseong Special City (Mayor Jung Myung-geun) has launched the 'Hwaseong City GB-Released District (District Unit Plan) Planning Service' to establish systematic urban management measures for the Green Belt (GB) released areas and to reorganize infrastructure plans.

The city held a kickoff meeting on the 18th and discussed the service promotion direction and major tasks.

This service targets a total of 53 districts and 2.56 square kilometers that have been designated and managed as district unit plan zones following the comprehensive Green Belt release in 2004 and 2006. The service period runs from July 2026 to November 2027.

At the kickoff meeting, overall conditions of long-overdue urban planning facilities were reviewed, and reorganization directions for facilities set to expire were discussed as a priority. The city plans to comprehensively review regional conditions and execution feasibility of long-overdue urban planning facilities approaching expiration and establish rational reorganization measures.

Main promotion directions include: △Establishing and maintaining execution plans for projects with high feasibility; △Adjusting facility sizes to reflect changed regional conditions; △Phased decommissioning of facilities lacking sufficient justification or difficult to execute.

The city will reasonably adjust unnecessary urban planning regulations through this service to activate land use, while coordinating closely with related departments to promptly advance necessary infrastructure projects. The goal is to reflect changed regional conditions in urban planning and increase the effectiveness of plans.

Mayor Jung Myung-geun of Hwaseong Special City stated, "It is important for urban planning to faithfully reflect changed regional conditions and residents' actual living situations," and added, "Through this service, we will carefully examine the necessity and execution feasibility of long-overdue urban planning facilities and establish rational reorganization measures so that necessary infrastructure for residents' lives can be created in a timely manner."

He further stated, "We will carefully reflect regional characteristics and conditions, reasonably adjust unnecessary regulations, and create conditions to seamlessly advance necessary infrastructure projects, thereby establishing an effective urban management system that citizens can experience."
