Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly Holds Launch Ceremony for 'Dokdo Love·National Territory Love Association'

The 'Dokdo Love·National Territory Love Association (Chair Kim Yong-sung)', a research institute of Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly members, held its launch ceremony on the 18th at the conference room of the Women, Family, and Lifelong Education Committee of the Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly, reaffirming strong determination to protect Dokdo and establish correct historical awareness.

The launch ceremony was attended by Chair Kim Yong-sung (Democratic Party, Gwangmyeong District 4) and Secretary General Lim Chang-hui (Democratic Party, Gwangju District 2), along with 28 member legislators who shared the cause.

Chair Kim Yong-sung stated, "I am deeply grateful to the twenty-eight legislators who came together to share this cause for the protection of Dokdo and the establishment of correct historical awareness despite their busy legislative activities," and added, "The 'Dokdo Love·National Territory Love Association' will take the lead to ensure that the slogan 'Dokdo is our territory' becomes a living and breathing history in the hearts of 14.2 million residents of Gyeonggi Province."

The 'Dokdo Love·National Territory Love Association' marks its 10th year since its establishment in September 2016. Over the past decade, the association has put Dokdo protection into action through fundraising campaigns for the statue 'Girl of Peace' in the Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly lobby, three on-site visits to Dokdo, support for the preservation of the statue in Berlin's Mitte District, the opening of the Gyeonggi Maru Dokdo Digital Experience Center, as well as issuing statements condemning Japan's historical distortions and calling for the abolition of Takeshima Day.
