Hwaseong Special City Launches Electric Two-Wheeler Distribution Project…Maximum Subsidy of 2.3 Million Won from Sept. 28

Hwaseong Special City (Mayor Jung Myeong-geun) announced on the 21st that it will implement the 'H2 2026 Electric Two-Wheeler Distribution Project' to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve air quality.

This project supports a portion of the purchase cost to expand the distribution of electric two-wheelers, which produce fewer air pollutants and generate less noise than internal combustion engine two-wheelers.

The city plans to support the purchase of a total of 45 electric two-wheelers in the second half of the year. The support will consist of 37 units for general distribution, 3 units for priority distribution, and 5 units for delivery purposes, with total project funding of 77.47 million won, including national treasury and city funds.

Eligible applicants are residents aged 16 or older who have continuously maintained their address in Hwaseong Special City for at least one month as of the application submission date, as well as corporations, businesses, and public institutions located in Hwaseong Special City.

The maximum subsidy amount (national funds + local funds) varies by vehicle type: 2.3 million won for standard models, 2.25 million won for other models, and 1.6 million won for shared models.

In particular, additional subsidies are available for those who scrap an internal combustion engine two-wheeler and purchase an electric two-wheeler, or for small business owners, vulnerable populations, farmers, and those purchasing for delivery purposes.

Citizens wishing to apply should check the subsidy amount by vehicle type on the Zero-Emission Vehicle Integrated Portal (www.ev.or.kr), visit an electric two-wheeler dealer to sign a purchase contract, and apply online through the dealer.

The application period runs from 10:00 a.m. on September 28 to 6:00 p.m. on November 27, and applications may close early if the budget is exhausted. Additionally, applicants must complete vehicle delivery, registration, and subsidy payment applications by December 4 to receive support.

Jang Ju-chul, Head of Climate and Environmental Policy Division, said, "Electric two-wheelers can help reduce transportation costs for delivery workers and small business owners who frequently commute, while also helping to reduce urban air pollution and noise," adding, "Through this project, we will expand conditions for residents to choose eco-friendly transportation options and promote the distribution of electric two-wheelers."
