Suwon Opens Applications for 'Suwon Goods' Design Certification Program

Suwon Metropolitan City (Mayor Lee Jae-jun) is recruiting products for the 'Second Half 2026 Suwon Goods Design Certification Program' through October 13 to discover superior design products with Suwon's identity and marketability, and to promote private product development and distribution.

The Suwon Goods Design Certification Program is a system that discovers excellent products utilizing diverse tangible and intangible assets of Suwon such as history, culture, tourism, and urban image, certifies design quality and marketability, and provides support including promotion and market expansion. In the first half of this year, 10 certified products were selected.

The second-half recruitment targets products currently being manufactured and sold or completed for commercialization that have relevance to Suwon's regional characteristics and are capable of actual production, sales, and follow-up project participation after certification. Both companies and individuals who plan, manufacture, or distribute Suwon Goods can apply.

In the second half, to expand products that citizens and visitors can purchase and use in their daily lives, the city will focus on recruiting in three categories: △Space-linked products reflecting major spaces in Suwon and user characteristics, △Urban image products utilizing colors and images discovered from Suwon's history, culture, nature, and cityscapes, and △Practical products priced at 10,000 won or less that can be used in daily life, events, and promotion, etc.

Interested applicants must submit applications by October 13. Applicants can download the application form from the 'Notices/Announcements/Legislative Notice' section of the Suwon City website, complete it, and submit it according to the method outlined in the notice.

The certified products will be announced on December 11 after undergoing first-round document screening and second-round product evaluation. The second screening has been changed from the existing presentation and product evaluation method to a product evaluation-focused approach, comprehensively evaluating design completeness and quality, marketability and commercial viability, and sustainability of production and distribution.

Selected products will be granted 'Suwon Goods Design Certification'. Certified products can receive support including △registration on the Suwon Goods website and online/offline promotion, △participation in exhibitions and pop-up stores, △expanded product exposure and sales opportunities linked with major Suwon City events and spaces, and △private distribution channel connections.

A Suwon City official stated, "The Suwon Goods Design Certification Program is not simply an idea contest, but a system to discover competitive products that are actually capable of production and sales," and added, "We hope that Suwon's spaces, culture, and urban image will translate into diverse products that citizens and visitors can use and experience in their daily lives."
