Suwon Implements Customized "Housing Stability Plus Project" for Seniors and People with Disabilities

Suwon Metropolitan City (Mayor Lee Jae-jun) is providing customized home renovations to enable citizens in need of care, including seniors and people with disabilities, to live safely in their current residences.

The "Housing Stability Plus Project," which launched on the 21st, is an initiative that identifies elderly households with mobility difficulties or high fall risk among recipients of integrated medical and long-term care services, and renovates homes to suit their physical functions and residential environments.

This year, support will be provided to 22 households. Eligible beneficiaries are elderly or citizens with mobility challenges among those receiving integrated medical and long-term care services, with household income at or below 150% of the median income standard, or recipients of basic old-age pension or national merit recipients.

Covered improvements include △threshold removal △slip prevention measures △flooring and lighting improvements △safety chair installation △fire detector and gas auto-shutoff device installation △washbasin and faucet replacement, among others.

Households at or below 120% of the median income standard, basic pension recipients, and national merit recipients can receive up to 2 million won per household. Households exceeding 120% but within 150% of the median income standard receive up to 1 million won, with the household responsible for 50% of construction costs.

Priority selection is given to basic livelihood security recipients and those in the lower-income bracket. Among equal-ranking applicants, support follows the order of single seniors, elderly couples, and those scheduled for hospital discharge or facility exit.

Dong Administrative Welfare Centers and health centers identify eligible beneficiaries and confirm residential risk factors, while the Suwon Integrated Support Council determines whether to provide support. The Suwon Urban Foundation Housing Welfare Center handles on-site surveys, residential improvement planning, construction, and post-project management.

A Suwon City official stated, "A safe residential environment is an important foundation for care that supports medical and long-term care services," adding, "We will work closely with relevant agencies to ensure that necessary support reaches beneficiaries promptly."
