Osan City Hosts Community Center Artwork Exhibition and Performance Showcase

The six-dong Resident Autonomy Committees of Osan City (Mayor Kwak Sang-wook) held an artwork exhibition and performance showcase for students of community center cultural classes, the city announced on the 6th.

This community center artwork exhibition and performance showcase provided an opportunity for students attending cultural classes at the six-dong community centers to display diverse works they had diligently learned and practiced over the past year, as well as present impressive performances.

The artwork exhibition, held for two days on the 5th and 6th in the first-floor lobby of City Hall, featured quilts, calligraphy, four-gentlemen paintings, hanji (Korean paper) crafts, and beautiful handwriting works created by students from the six-dong community center cultural classes, delighting visitors to City Hall.

At the performance showcase held on the 5th at Osan Culture and Arts Hall's grand performance venue, attended by Mayor Kwak Sang-wook, City Council Speaker Choi Woong-su, city council members, and hundreds of other spectators, a total of 12 club teams—two from each of the six wards—showcased their refined skills in belly dance, Korean traditional dance, acoustic guitar, Gyeonggi folksong, and dancesport.

Meanwhile, the Chopyeong-dong Gyeonggi Folksong club team, which won the grand prize for its Gyeonggi folksong performance at the showcase, will represent Osan City in the upcoming Gyeonggi Province Community Center Artwork Presentation Competition.

Mayor Kwak Sang-wook said, "Through community center cultural classes, wonderful and excellent works created by course participants have come to fruition," and added, "Going forward, we will continue to make efforts to develop more diverse and enriching community center programs to meet the varied cultural needs of local residents."
