Osan City Holds Regular Training for Noraebang Operators in 2013

Osan City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kwak Sang-uk) announced that it held regular training for around 140 noraebang operators on the afternoon of the 17th at the City Hall Conference Room over a three-hour period.

The training was entrusted to the Suwon-Hwaseong-Osan Chapter of the Korean Noraebang Association and covered explanations of the Music Industry Promotion Act, compliance requirements for operators and administrative penalties for violations, and fire safety education.

Osan City Mayor Kwak Sang-uk, who attended the regular training session, said in his remarks, "This training is to inform you about fire safety facilities to protect your assets and compliance requirements for operators," and added, "I ask that you do your best in compliance with operating requirements and facility management so that noraebang establishments, which many citizens visit, can develop into bright cultural spaces."

A city official stated, "Despite ongoing crackdowns and guidance activities, illegal and unlawful practices at noraebang establishments have not been eradicated," and said, "Through this training, we aim to use it as an opportunity for operators themselves to engage in self-reform regarding illegal operations at noraebang establishments and establish a sound cultural environment."

Meanwhile, Osan City expects that this training will help prevent unlawful practices such as hiring assistants or selling alcohol at noraebang establishments and establish sound business order, ultimately helping to establish noraebang establishments as sound leisure spaces.
