Osan City and Fire Department Conduct Joint Government Building Fire Drill

Osan City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Gwak Sang-uk) announced on the 26th that it conducted a '2013 Joint Fire Drill' at the city hall building and parking lot in the morning.

The drill was conducted jointly with Osan Fire Department to minimize human and material losses in case of a fire accident and to enhance the self-defense fire brigade members' proactive response capabilities regarding fires.

The drill was attended by approximately 40 self-defense fire brigade members from City Hall and approximately 30 firefighters along with 8 fire trucks from Osan Fire Department.

The drill was conducted at the City Hall conference room where a hypothetical fire situation allegedly caused by electrical short circuit was given, followed by emergency bell activation by automatic fire detection system, Osan Fire Department dispatch through emergency contact system, evacuation guidance of employees and visitors, initial fire suppression activities by self-defense fire brigade, rescue operations and emergency treatment, fire extinguishing, and recovery drill.

An Osan City official said, "This drill focused on minimizing human and material property damage in case of an actual fire by improving the fire response capabilities of all staff including self-defense fire brigade members at City Hall."
