Osan City Recruits Participants for '2014 Senior Employment Projects'

Osan City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Gwak Sang-wook) announced on the 16th that it is recruiting participants for the '2014 Senior Employment Projects' to support active social participation by seniors and promote healthy, vibrant retirement lives through November 24th.

This year, with a total project budget of 1.141 billion won, Osan City will provide job opportunities from March to November for 539 seniors across 22 projects—an increase of 4 projects and 65 participants compared to last year. Projects such as community center assistance, library support, Silver Care, Life-Saving Education Corps, and workforce dispatch will be conducted as year-round programs.

Applicants must be seniors aged 65 or older living in Osan City with ability to work, with priority given to those facing financial difficulties such as recipients of the Basic Old-Age Pension. Some programs, including elementary school meal assistance, educational-type, and market entry-type projects, are exceptions and accept applications from ages 60–64.

The following are excluded from application: recipients of the National Basic Livelihood Security System, participants in job projects operated by government agencies, ineligible participants in last year's senior employment projects, and those assessed for Long-Term Care Insurance for the elderly.

Seniors participating in the employment projects will receive monthly wages of 200,000 to 220,000 won for 36 hours of work per month.

Project types are categorized as follows: public-interest type projects including community center assistance, school zone safety supervision, childcare facility environment maintenance, and smoking cessation promotion will recruit 447 participants across 12 projects; welfare-type projects including Silver Care, free meal assistance, and community children's center support will recruit 45 participants across 3 projects.

Additionally, educational-type projects such as forest ecology supervision and retirement life planning will recruit 28 participants across 5 projects, and market entry-type projects including workforce dispatch will recruit 15 participants.

Seniors wishing to participate in the senior employment projects should visit the Osan City Volunteer Center with their identification card and resident registration certificate to apply.
