This year, Suwon City's educational support expenses are projected to reach approximately 55 billion won.

Suwon City announced on the 8th that it will provide a total of approximately 55 billion won in subsidies to 199 schools for projects including free meals for kindergartens and elementary and middle school students, fostering quality high schools, designating and supporting innovative schools, deploying school social workers to provide psychological treatment and counseling for elementary, middle, and high school students, and operating eco-friendly atopy specialized schools in urban areas.

This year's educational expense support is divided into five areas: educational welfare support such as fostering creative talent, education curriculum operation support for normalizing public education including fostering specialized high schools, school facility and environment improvement project support, innovative school designation, and school social worker deployment support projects.

Major support projects include afterschool care classroom support for 25 elementary schools, community library opening projects for 10 schools, specialized high school development support for three high schools, support for special education staff salaries at elementary schools, all-day kindergarten classes support, and subsidies for third-child kindergarten fees at both public and private kindergartens.

Additionally, Suwon City will expand and continue support for Dream Tree Safe School operations, small-scale educational environment improvement projects, school specialization programs, school social worker deployment for psychological and emotional treatment and counseling for elementary, middle, and high school students, self-directed learning capacity enhancement programs, school asbestos safety management system operation support, eco-friendly atopy specialized school operations in urban areas, quality high school development, and innovative school designation and development projects.

Meanwhile, Suwon City will support premium eco-friendly food material costs and other expenses totaling 34.8 billion won at 337 locations, enabling all kindergartens and elementary and middle school students in Suwon to benefit from universal welfare through free meal services.

Mayor Yeom Tae-young said, "Educational investment requires a long time to show results, and rather than expecting immediate effects, it is necessary to expand educational investment with a view to the future and make efforts to improve the educational environment," adding, "We will work to resolve educational disparities within the region and create an educational environment where students can pursue their dreams."
