Suwon City to Carry Out Street Tree Growth Environment Improvement Project for Ginkgo Trees
Suwon City will conduct street tree growth environment improvement projects on ginkgo trees along major roads showing signs of chlorosis.
Ginkgo trees along roadsides in Suwon have accumulated growth stress due to urban desertification and the effects of de-icing agents. Combined with the drought in the first half of this year, the trees are experiencing chlorosis, causing leaves to turn yellow. The city expressed concern not only about the death of street trees but also potential damage to the urban landscape.
Accordingly, Suwon's Green Space Project Office has completed field surveys and diagnoses of affected trees and plans to implement growth environment improvement projects, including root trimming and fertilizer application, on approximately 200 ginkgo trees along seven major roads, including Gyeongsu-daero, beginning in September.
