Gyeonggi Climate Platform Redesigned...Provides Solar Installation Feasibility and Recycling Rewards Information

Gyeonggi Province announced on the 28th that it has redesigned the "Gyeonggi Climate Platform" to allow residents to check whether solar power facilities can be installed on their land or buildings and to easily find nearby recycling reward exchange locations.

The Gyeonggi Climate Platform (Climate.gg.go.kr) is a service that provides climate disaster information such as landslide risk levels and heat wave and flood risk maps, as well as diverse climate and environmental information including carbon absorption and storage capacity of trees and soil across Gyeonggi Province, current status of parks and green spaces, and solar power generation potential.

The newly introduced "Solar Suitability Analysis Service" allows residents or businesses to select desired land or buildings and check whether they are suitable for installing solar power facilities by comprehensively displaying generation profitability, relevant regulations, and the possibility of connecting to the power grid.

Land or building owners considering solar power facility installation can check the generation potential, expected economic viability, and regulations restricting installation at a glance on the Gyeonggi Climate Platform without having to search for related information from various institutions one by one.

The province plans to cooperate with Korea Electric Power Corporation to more rapidly provide up-to-date information necessary for determining whether solar power facilities can be connected to the power grid.

A newly provided "Garbage Money-Making (Waste Tech) Information Service" tells users where they can bring recycled items and receive compensation in cash or regional currency.

Recycling reward exchange locations previously scattered across different municipalities and institutions—including AI unmanned collection units, resource circulation shops, and collection and exchange centers—can now be checked all at once on a map. Residents can check the location, usage methods, and compensation terms of nearby exchange centers and use the closest one.

Byeon Sang-gi, Director of Gyeonggi Province's Climate and Environmental Policy Division, said, "This redesign not only provides climate information but focuses on enabling residents to directly utilize it in their daily lives, such as when considering solar installation or finding recycling reward locations. Going forward, we will continuously develop services that are easy for residents to use and feel accessible, raising access to climate information."
