Man in His 40s Arrested After Self-Harm at Suwon City Hall Civil Affairs Office Over Service Complaint

A man in his 40s who engaged in self-harm at the Civil Affairs Office of Suwon City Hall over dissatisfaction with civil service was apprehended by police.

According to police on the 30th, at 11:42 a.m. that day, a report was received from a city employee at the Civil Affairs Office of Suwon City Hall in Paldal-gu, Suwon, regarding a civil petitioner causing a disturbance.

It was determined that Mr. A, a man in his 40s, claimed that consultation calls were not properly conducted during the Chuseok holiday period and requested to speak with the person in charge before engaging in self-harm.

Upon receiving the report, police arrested Mr. A at the scene on suspicion of obstruction of government operations.

Mr. A sustained injuries to his head and other areas and received emergency first aid from a 119 emergency response team that was dispatched, but he reportedly refused to be transported to a hospital.

During this process, it was determined that there were no signs of Mr. A using physical force against city hall officials or damaging property.

Mr. A reportedly had been continuously filing civil complaints previously.

It was confirmed that the city operated a duty office over the weekend.

Police are investigating the exact circumstances of the incident.
