Suwon Metropolitan Government's Joint License Plate Impound Task Force Seizes 405 Defaulted Vehicle License Plates in First Half of Year

[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Jung Jun-sung] Suwon Metropolitan Government announced on the 9th that its Joint License Plate Impound Task Force, an integrated enforcement system that verifies and collects both local taxes and non-tax automobile-related revenue arrears in one operation, seized license plates from 405 defaulted vehicles and collected 300 million won in arrears during the first half of this year.

The city conducted roving license plate impounding operations starting in February, focusing on major roads, public parking lots, and areas with concentrated delinquent vehicles. The city intensified crackdowns on defaulted vehicles by utilizing the vehicle-mounted license plate impound system and on-site enforcement teams.

In the first half, 405 vehicles had their license plates seized, with a total of 6,677 defaulted payment cases and 693 million won in arrears. Among these, 334 vehicle owners paid 300 million won to recover their license plates.

The Joint License Plate Impound Task Force verifies delinquency by integrating local taxes including automobile tax and automobile-related fines such as △parking violation fines △fines for uninsured vehicle mandatory insurance △fines for overdue vehicle periodic inspections, and guides payment. The city is increasing payment convenience while maximizing collection efficiency.

Vehicles with seized license plates must pay all arrears including automobile tax and automobile-related fines to recover their license plates.

The city plans to continue on-site impounding operations during the rainy season when rainfall is light and will continue crackdowns on defaulted vehicles during the summer vacation period.
