Osan City Operates Dedicated Team for Fine and Arrears Collection
Osan City announced on the 31st that it will operate a dedicated team to collect overdue fines and arrears.
According to the city, as of July, the amount of outstanding fines for motor vehicle traffic violations is 1.03 billion won across 133,000 cases. The monthly additional surcharges generated from unpaid arrears amount to approximately 120 million won.
In response, the city has formed an Arrears Management Team that will monitor overdue vehicles in real-time using smartphones and collect outstanding fines using a license plate confiscation system.
The Arrears Management Team will also employ various methods including issuing demand notices for fines, public notification, electronic deposit garnishment, and real estate seizure.
A city official stated, "In accordance with the amended related law, additional surcharges are imposed and collected for 60 months after the arrears occur."
