Osan City Operates Dedicated Task Force for Collecting Overdue Fines

Osan City announced on the 31st that it will operate a dedicated task force to collect overdue fine payments.

According to the city, as of July, overdue fines related to motor vehicle traffic violations amount to 10.3 billion won across 133,000 cases. The additional penalties that accumulate monthly due to unpaid delinquent taxes also reach approximately 120 million won.

In response, the city has formed a delinquency management team that will conduct real-time enforcement of overdue vehicles using smartphones and collect overdue fines through a license plate impoundment system.

The delinquency management team also plans to utilize various methods including sending overdue fine notices, public service of notice, electronic bank account garnishment, and real estate seizure.

A city official stated, "According to the amendment to relevant laws, additional penalties are imposed and collected for 60 months following the occurrence of delinquency."
